WHAT IT'S LIKE
Julia Hinshaw is a student at the University of Colorado, diagnosed with chronic depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, and Epstein-Barr Virus. Her mental and physical illnesses have severely impacted Hinshaw’s studies and make it nearly impossible for her to keep up with the average student course load. She is currently enrolled in one course.
Julia disproves the stereotype that CU is merely a party school. Many don’t graduate in the standard four-years, but students have other reasons that don’t include abusing the typical vices.
Depression haunts Hinshaw’s day-to-day life and further perpetuates her list of struggles. Not being able to relate to many of her peers, Hinshaw has secluded into a solitary lifestyle — one that most don’t have access to or see.
